Welcome
to Grinalta Farms. Our family run operation has been
established since 1971. We mix farm cattle, horses
and grain. Our horses are all registered Quarter
Horses, Thoroughbreds and warm bloods. The majority
of our
grain land produces livestock feed. We raise registered
border collie dogs as well. Our dogs are bred from
imported stock that are the best working bloodlines
in the world. They are the farmhands that can't be
replaced!
We
have been established Simmental breeders since 1971
(CSA #1938) breeding
approximately 200 head of registered Simmentals.
We have always believed in thick, moderate, easy
fleshing
cattle. FLECKVIEH HAS ALWAYS BEEN OUR CHOICE. In
the 1970's, we bred 9 different breeds at one time,
under
the same management it was easy to make comparisons.
FLECKVIEH came out on top and eventually we dispersed
all the other breeds and have bred Simmental exclusively
ever since.
Grinalta
Farms’ main focus is on breeding top quality
Simmental cattle. Our program is built upon a Fullblood
and Purebred base. Our Fullbloods roots back to
our early 1971 German import cow, Fraulein and
our 1972
Austrian import, Ossi Gundi. Our Fullblood herd
is Full Fleckvieh or high percentage Fleckvieh.
All
our herdbulls used on the Fullbloods are Full Fleckvieh
or polled Full Fleckvieh. Our purebred cattle are
based
from a Fleckvieh root and now are bred to popular
black and red bulls of the breed.
In 1993, we were fortunate to find the only known mutation polled Full Fleckvieh
cow in North Amercia, EDC Poll Magnum 1B. We feel this cow and her offspring
are revolutionizing the polled industry. We now put a lot of emphasis and
energy on our polled program.
Grinalta
Farms sells consistently 30+ yearling bulls every spring,
as well as a number of 2 year olds. Our goal is to
produce functional efficient and practical cattle. Based
on calving ease, moderate sized, easy fleshing, and minimal
management. Recognizing the need of today's industry.
